Gas Description
Silane is a colorless gas that reacts with air and can cause suffocation. This gas usually comes into contact with air and causes combustion, releasing a thick white amorphous silica smoke. Its primary harm to health is that its self igniting flames can cause serious thermal burns, and if severe, can even be fatal. If flames or high temperatures act on a certain part of a silane cylinder, it will cause the cylinder to explode before the safety valve is activated. If the pressure is too high or the speed is too fast when releasing silane, it will cause a delayed explosion. If the leaked silane does not self ignite, it will be very dangerous and should not be approached. Personnel handling emergency situations must have personal protective equipment and fire protection adapted to the situation at hand. Do not attempt to extinguish the fire before cutting off the gas source. Silane gas is colorless, highly toxic, and flammable, with an unpleasant garlic odor.
Main uses
Silane gas applications: raw materials for silicon epitaxial growth, polycrystalline silicon, silicon oxide, silicon nitride, solar cells, optical fibers, colored glass manufacturing, chemical vapor deposition, etc. Zhongxin Ruiyuan Gas supplies high-purity silane gas, and silane prices are the most affordable across the entire network! Silane gas is used in integrated circuit manufacturing, solar cells, coated reflective glass, etc.
Storage and precautions
Steel cylinders should be stored in a cool, dry, and well ventilated place, away from heat sources and oxidants such as chlorine and bromine. The workplace should be equipped with sufficient protective equipment and emergency supplies. Silane is non corrosive and can be used with carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, Monel, and corrosion-resistant nickel based alloys. It can also be made of polytetrafluoroethylene, polytetrafluorochlorinated ethylene polymer, nylon, trifluoroethylene resin, polyethylene, polyester, and quartz glass. Lead, rubber, fat, lubricating oil, and glass cannot be used. All flammable organic polymer materials should be avoided from use. When a large amount of silane leaks. It will soon catch fire, so it is not possible to use a fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire. But it can control the fire to prevent it from spreading to the surrounding area. During combustion, the radiation heat is not too high, so it is advisable to close the valve as much as possible to stop the flow of gas. White snow stone powder or graphite powder can be used to turn off the engine. The exhaust gas can be absorbed with water or alkali, or captured by specialized filters after being burned into SiO2 in a special burner. Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Stay away from sparks and heat sources. The storage temperature should not exceed 30 ℃. It should be stored separately from combustible materials and oxidants, and mixed storage should be avoided. The storage area should be equipped with emergency response equipment for leaks. Closed operation, local ventilation. Operators must undergo specialized training and strictly adhere to operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear filter type gas protection (half face mask). Stay away from flammable and combustible materials. Prevent gas leakage into the workplace air. Avoid contact with oxidants. Light loading and unloading during transportation to prevent damage to steel cylinders and accessories. Equipped with leakage emergency response equipment.
Precautions for silane gas: Workplaces using silane should be ventilated and the indoor air should be kept dry. The silane device should be strictly sealed to avoid contact with air and moisture. Therefore, before using the gas device, inert gas should be used to replace the air inside and vacuum it. This repeated replacement and vacuum must be thoroughly removed from the system. After the device is used, inert gas should also be used to replace and clean the silane in the system. Can be used Helium leak detector detects leaks. When a small amount of silane leaks, it can also be inferred from the folding out of silica powder.
